Gloranthan songs: When I first came to this land
An old extending chorus song. Popular in Pavis County, less so in Risklands ("for the land was kind and good"?). Goes back to the days when Dragon Pass was being re-populated, and maybe even earlier.
When I first came to this land,
I was not a wealthy man.
So I got myself a hen,
I did what I could.
And I called my hen,
Now and then.
For the land was kind and good,
I did what I could.
When I first came to this land,
I was not a wealthy man.
So I got myself a pig,
I did what I could.
And I called my pig,
Shuffle-and-dig.
And I called my hen,
Now and then.
For the land was kind and good,
I did what I could.
...and so on! He also acquires a donkey (Horse-gone-wonky), a cow (No-milk-now), and a wife (Run-for-your-life), plus anything else the singer feels like inventing at the time.
